Backwoods Ten One Seven Inc. was founded in August 2012 in the small community of Windygates in southern Manitoba, Canada. Brian Sawatzky and Randy Hoeppner recognized the need for reliable and trustworthy alternative heating solutions for Manitoba's harsh winters.

Our team is certified in W.E.T.T. installations of fireplaces, furnaces, wood stoves, pellet stoves, and inserts. We serve all of Manitoba and surrounding areas.

Our Process (In full detail)

At Backwoods, we provide a comprehensive step-by-step process for our wood, pellet, gas, and electric heating services. Here's how it works:

1. Contact us via email, phone, online submission, or text to describe your heating needs and the type of heating you want for your home. We're available from 8am to 5pm to answer any questions you may have.
2. If you know the details of your home, provide them to us. If not, send us pictures of the desired installation location(s) inside and outside your home. For more complex projects, we may need to visit your home for an in-person estimate.
3. For fireplace installations, we offer a free 3D mock-up design service to help you visualize the finished product and ensure it will fit in the space you have in mind.
4. View our updated prices on our website, or request a rough cost estimate for a full installation. Once we have more information about your home, we will provide a detailed quote. If you decide to proceed, we will require a deposit to secure your installation date. Note that our installation schedule fills up quickly, especially during the fall and winter months, so plan ahead.
5. Prior to the installation, we will contact you to confirm the date and time. Our services include full or partial installations, including the unit, hearth (if needed), chimney/venting, WETT inspection, fireplace finishing, and chimney chase. We do not offer gas hook-up services, so you will need to arrange for a plumber to handle that aspect of the installation. If you need additional services, such as shelving units, just let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
6. After the installation is complete, you will be required to pay the remaining balance. We offer financing through Financeit, which you can learn more about on our website. You can pay with credit card, e-transfer, cash, or check, whichever is most convenient for you.
7. Our installers will provide a demonstration of how to use your heating unit and the included fire starter. Don't hesitate to ask questions and test their knowledge – that's what we're here for!
